View Aisha's Work
Aisha Mansouri was born in Syria, and has lived all around the world including London, Rome, Damascus, New Dehli, New York City, Japan, Tunisia, Cairo, and Athens to name a few. Living in these many places and seeing different cultures, and viewpoints has enriched her perspective as an artist. She has resided in King of Prussia, PA since 1995 when she began her full-time pursuit of art. Although classically trained, she focuses on the abstract style.
Aisha’s creative drive: “I am moved by whatever fills my life at a particular moment or brings me joy. This is what drives me to create. As I stand in front of a blank canvas, I set out to create an entity, and to have a conversation with that entity through my process.”
Key emotion represented in her work: “Color is the vehicle through which I convey the feeling, emotion, or idea of a painting. The clarity of color and use of light brings shape and line – and the painting – to life.”
Thoughts on process: “Sometimes I have a clear idea of what I want to express. Sometimes I let the painting create something completely different. Whether the final result is my original idea or not, I end up in a special place.”
Personal relationship to her work: “My art is extremely important to me. It is my life, my existence.”
Thoughts on sharing art: “Art is a lonely process, and sharing it makes it worthwhile. If I am able to capture an emotion or touch another’s life in some way, it gives me great fulfillment.”
